Grace was in NYC for The Dance Awards nationals last summer, so we met up and took some of her senior pictures in the city! If you follow my work at all, you’ll know that dance shoots and NYC senior portraits are two of my favorite things ever, so I was more than a little excited to combine them both into one shoot! It was a typical New York summer day- HOT and humid- and about 2o minutes into our shoot it started pouring rain. Fortunately, it was just a short cloudburst, and mom Christine had sent us off with a black and white striped umbrella that went perfectly with Grace’s pink Kate Spade dress! Once the storm passed, the sun (and the heat!) were back for the rest of our shoot. We were both drenched in sweat and exhausted by the time we wrapped, but it was so fun and ended up being one of my faves from the Class of 2016!
Nebraska folks might recognize Grace as Clara from last year’s Nutcracker with LMBC. In the fall, she will be moving to San Francisco for two years to attend the Alonzo King LINES Ballet Training Program. For those of you not familiar with the competitive dance world, this is a BIG deal! As a former dancer myself, I can tell you that it takes years of hard work and many, many hours spent in ballet class to be able to get into a full-time professional ballet program. Congrats to you Grace!! So excited to see where your dance career takes you!
We met up in Lincoln for a spring mini shoot- this time the weather was COLD!
Buddy the dog wanted to join in for some photos! Yes- a dancer, a dog, NYC, and spring trees all with one senior! I can’t even.
